Embarrassment and a little fear are settling in. Seventeen weeks is not much time for two older, out-of-shape adults to prepare for hiking the Grand Canyon. At this point, it's quite obvious that we're experiencing a mental block to resuming our training schedule. We're allowing every excuse possible to delay. Why? We both have wanted this adventure for many years.
It takes determination and we have to muster that. It's a beautiful day today so we'll start with a nice bike ride and resume the Wii workouts. Perhaps I need to figure out what our goals are starting the last week before the hike and working backwards until now. Whatever the strategy, we have to commit or we're going to have to back out because we're definitely not ready for this challenge at this point. Backing out just isn't something I'm comfortable with so, that leaves getting serious with training and weight loss.
That is the goal for this week. Along with the very basic training listed on the right, next week I will post pictures from our bike ride this afternoon and hike next Saturday. I will also post the training plan for the next sixteen weeks. Goals: write down and post them somewhere you see frequently to keep you focused on them. That's supposed to work so we're going do it and FOCUS.
Being active older adults isn't nearly as easy as we thought!
