58:53

Seven weeks ago in February, we stated on the blog that we felt getting under one hour on the 4.2 Mile Pat's Run would be attainable.  Well it was...and we did. Yesterday Papa and I completed the race in 58:53. OK not much time to spare but we accomplished what we had worked for during the past couple months.

Now we have six weeks to train for one of our biggest physical goals, the rim-to-rim hike at the Grand Canyon. We will try changing our training to three days a week but for longer periods. The past couple weeks we've experimented with taking a day off between training and we seem to better our times. We'll give it a try for a couple weeks and see if it is productive.

After the race yesterday, Nana went with a friend to the World Wildlife Zoo in Litchfield Park, AZ. Great way to relax and enjoy a beautiful afternoon. Evening Papa and I enjoyed a free outdoor concert.

Today it is a break day. Relaxing. Reading. The intense training starts Tuesday and we will really need to focus. We have five weeks of hikes, some of our most challenging, ahead of us as part of the training.

We have five weeks to get used to the heat, the altitude and the physical demands. Then the reward of finally experiencing the Canyon as we've longed to do for years. We're excited.
