The beaches are a wonderful in California. Sound and sight candy. The sunsets, even with mostly cloudy skies, are soothing.

Healing Ocean

One of the blessings we enjoy is visiting family in California a couple times a year. Those visits are priceless and we cherish the stories and time together. Bonus, those trips include a visit to the ocean. A walk along the beach, a stroll on a long pier over the ocean, watching surfers catch a wave are all healing and restorative.

Wrong Turn



Driving up the coast, we made a turn a little early. It looked interesting with lots of cars parked, so we decided to explore where it went and what was happening. The destination was awesome: The Torrey Pines Gliderport. Watching two gliders swoop over the ocean was breathtaking. Then we met two ladies who suggested the most “awesome experience” was to climb the small platform over the ocean and high-five the gliders. 

We made our way over to the area and two of our group climbed the platform and waited. The gliders were off to the south and didn’t appear to be coming back. They relinquished their post. We watched a little longer and the gliders appeared to be coming back north.
