The new BetsyB. Of course we have to put the car through the paces to make sure she measures up to our beloved Betsy. Her third and final test was distance. So why not combine that with a wonderful, bucket-list hike. Papa and I tried this a few weeks ago and missed the mark. Oh we still had a gorgeous hike in Sedona, but not the destination planned. It is absolutely beautiful scenery. Today, a friend and I tried hiking to Devil's Bridge and found success.
This is an awesome hike. The vast majority of it is pretty easy. The kicker
is the last few yards which require climbing up steep stairs. Actually I think climbing gloves would have been more useful that hiking poles. Being shorter in statute, staying low to the ground and climbing worked better. It is definitely worth the effort.A few yards after completing the climbing, we were rewarded with a view of Devil's Bridge, with the amazing red rocks of Sedona in the distance. We were also fortunate to go early enough in the day to arrive before it was too busy. We waited just a few minutes for our turn to walk out on the bridge and get the iconic photos. This is a memorable hike and would recommend it.
And BetsyB. She's growing on me. She has big shoes to fill but she's passing the tests so far.
