Missouri

Last year we celebrated the Fourth of July in Hollister, Missouri. Braved the record heat and humidity to explore St. Louis

This time we drove across the state, making Joplin our only stop. We did find something new. I love waterfalls and this amazing spot was just outside Joplin. Beautiful country neighborhood. Many families visiting. I can imagine it filled with people on a hot summer day.
We did drive close to the Arch. It was amazing how we got through St. Louis during rush hour without any delays. Ended up an hour into Illinois, ready for a very busy Illinois day tomorrow.

This is our first long trip with BetsyB. She’s doing great, and we are learning a lot about all she’s capable of doing and information she provides. She did 40mpg the first couple days, likely aided by a stiff west wind pushing us along.

We’ve avoided the earthquake northeast of Oklahoma City and tornadoes. It has been very windy but that seems to be settling down. We did have a few thunderstorm showers but no white-knuckle driving. Just a nice shower for BetsyB.

Tomorrow: Land of Lincoln
