Rolling Hills

The initial motivation for this trip was to play golf courses our family member played. Many of those are in the Midwest. And you know what we are discovering? Many of those courses have rolling hills.

Papa and I played the back nine of Saddleback Ridge. Beautiful day with temps in the 70s, lower humidity and a nice breeze. Sunny skies. It was so nice. The rolling fairways and greens provided challenge. The course was wide open and forgiving to balance it out. Bonus: neither of us lost any balls!!

It was interesting seeing tall corn fields bordering the perimeter of the course. Even farm buildings and homes could be seen. Imagine finding stray golf balls when detasseling corn!

Our first introduction to Midwest rolling hills was yesterday at the Montezuma Country Club. I loved the course. Didn’t play it well but it was fun. I’m sure seeing Bev and Dick contributed to that. It was fun playing with them again. Unfortunately I was a poor time planner! We only got in nine holes of golf and Papa and I had to leave. We will return and definitely will plan better. It is a lovely area and we would like to see more!

MCC definitely had the rolling hills and it also had something else: cattle. Not on the course but bordering the perimeter. We have seen and heard many different animals on the golf courses we have visited so far. It has been delightful!
