Wheels

The plane tickets are purchased. Hiking supplies gathered. Travel plans in place. Training started for the big hikes ahead.

One of the best, if not the best, training aid has been wheels. Papa does not go the distance I need to walk. Solution: wheelchair. We purchased a light-weight transfer wheelchair in December. Perfect. Papa walks as far as he can, then I push him in the chair. I get the distance needed plus strength training.

We've added some "fun" to the chair. It has a waterproof bluetooth speaker for music. A bicycle headlight and tail-light for safety. Pockets on either side for drinks, snacks, and other necessities. Recently we added an umbrella for a little shade from the summer sun.

Papa's balance, gait and distance have improved. He can hold onto the side of the wheelchair for stability while he walks, too. Added bonus.
