Papa and I enjoy being active and traveling. Circumstances the last few years haven't allowed us to travel as frequently as we would have liked. That has now changed and we look forward to checking off some places we've long wanted to visit.
One of those "bucket list" items is Route 66. About nine years ago we drove the middle section of it. Recently we drove the western end of Route 66. It’s a quirky, fun trip filled with oddities and history, like the Berma Shave signs along the roadside.
A highlight was walking the main street of Oatman, Arizona and feeding the burrows. They roam freely up and down the street. Be careful driving in and out of town as the wild burrows take over the road and are in no hurry to move out of the way for pesky cars.
It was a longer trip to California over two-lane curvy roadways, but the reward was the ocean and relaxing to the sound of the waves.
