Reboot

This blog was started 13 years ago. It is fun to look back at some of the adventures, at least for me. It is also a little embarrassing to see the time breaks and some of the posts. It does show how much life has changed over the years.

When I started the blog, I was working. Our adventures were limited to weekends and vacations. Now, Papa and I are both retired. Our adventures are whenever we want.

Our interests and abilities have changed, too. Papa's knees don't allow him to do as much hiking, but I still enjoy it. Biking has given way to golf for both of us. Walking is the main exercise vs. 4K and half marathons.

This reboot will focus on the new adventures, starting with a trip to one of the better known golf courses in the country, Torrey Pines. There something about the ocean that enhances the peaceful feeling one can find on a golf course. I'm relatively new to the game of golf and neither Papa nor I claim any expertise. We're recreational/social golfers who laugh at our shots more than praise the accuracy.

That said, Torrey Pines North is a challenging course. The beauty is the fairways are wide and open, not hemmed in by houses marking the boundary.

The challenge comes in the very thick, green rough that swallows up a golf ball. The grass isn't much taller than the fairway, but the thickness is what enables a ball to be completely hidden even when you're standing directly over it. Some of the greens are mini roller coasters making it nearly impossible to make a two putt.

The challenges would not stop me from golfing there again. The views of the ocean are wonderful. And sunset, oh I would definitely golf in the afternoon again so we could watch the sunset from the links.
