The place is called The Old English Inn. The inside and outside feels like England. There is a lively pub on the main floor. The rooms aren’t modern and flashy. They do have all the necessary conveniences with character and quirkiness that transports you to a more relaxed time.
Papa and I enjoyed walking up and down the streets and exploring the historical train depot. The location was just perfect.
It was even more perfect at night. The city fireworks were a half mile away. We planned to walk to the park where they were held, but hot humid temperatures discouraged us. Plus we found out there wasn’t an easy way to walk there; too many busy streets without sidewalks.
Then we noticed cars pulling onto the street and people pulling out chairs and lining up on the sidewalk. We looked up and saw our hotel room window. Yes!! We watched and heard fireworks in our cool hotel room, lying on a comfortable bed and gazing out the window for the 35-40 minute show! Perfect!!
Bonus: I have not had success in recording fireworks in the past. The colors were never vibrant. I am pleased with how these clips turned out.
Tomorrow’s post: our first golf experience
