Oklahoma City National Memorial

The Murrow Building was targeted in 1995.
We first visited the memorial in 2000.
We came again in 2013.
It is still a deeply moving experience today.

Top left: Looking from one end of the reflective pool to the other. The far end has 9:03 engraved above the arch. We are standing under the mirror image arch but with 9:01 engraved on it. Times of the attack.
Top right: The building next to the Murrow building was damaged but withstood the blast. It is now a museum. The large tree was badly scorched but was the only tree in the area to survive.
Middle rightThe Survivor Tree
Middle left and bottom left: Each chair represents a person who perished on that day. Smaller chairs for children. All the chairs are lit at night.
Bottom right: Tiles of hand prints made by children after the explosion as their way to help. The walls of the Children’s Memorial are covered in these tiles.
